What Are We Learning In Class Next Week:
Reading: We will be learning about and looking closely at the 5 W questions when we read a book. We will also be asking who, what, when, where, and why questions, along with answering them!
Writing: We will be learning about how to create interesting leads in order to "hook" our reader.
Math: We will begin learning about different strategies to add double-digit numbers.
Science/Social Studies: We will be working more with our observing skills using items from nature. We will also take a trip outside and observe with our senses.
Other Important Information:
Homework
We will continue our spelling and reading homework next week and we will add in our math homework. Homework for next week will include a math fact fluency sheet. The math fact sheet is in a plastic sleeve in their BEE binder, and students will use a dry erase marker (in the plastic sleeve) to solve all of the problems. Students should practice their math facts at least 5 times throughout the week. The sheet has answers on the back and students can take the sheet out to check their work on the plastic sleeve. Please DO NOT pull the sheet out and write on it. Students should use the dry erase marker with the plastic sleeve so students can practice their math facts over and over again.
Math Facts Quiz
On Thursdays, starting next next week, students will be taking a 2 minute math quiz over half of their math facts practice sheet. Students can miss up to 2 problems and still move onto the next math facts sheet for the next week. Each Friday (or the last day of the week), I will give students the new math facts practice sheet for homework if they passed their quiz on Thursday, or ask them to continue to work on the same one if they did't pass their quiz that week.
Weather: Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outside recess. The students also go outside for P.E. sometimes too.
